Platinum paper bear

Sometimes creativity is born from adversity. At the end of World War I, Steiff faced a shortage of wool and similar plush materials. Ever innovative, the company found ways to produce bears and animals with a paper-based substitute material from 1919 to 1921.
Today this new “paper teddy bear” is now presented in a glossy platinum gray.
This paper bear has wooden eyes and a hand-sewn gray nose.
It has a silver-colored elephant chest tag, the first logo used by Steiff.
